We celebrate Burns Night in style.

Members of Harrogate Bowling Club gathered on the evening of Saturday 27th January to celebrate the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns. And we did it in style.

Pipe Major Graham Hall greets guests as they arrive.

The clubhouse filled rapidly.

Our host, Frank Devaney welcomed everyone and led the Selkirk Grace. The haggis and whiskey were then piped into the room.

The formal address to the haggis and its ceremonial cut...

...after which it was piped to the kitchen for serving.

The guests look ready.

And the haggis begins to be served.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, please stand for the Loyal Toast".

“The King.”

It was a brilliant evening but all things must come to an end. Our thanks go to

all those who worked hard to ensure it was a big success.

And to Frank, for making sure all this happened.

"I would like to thank the generosity of our members for providing the raffle

prizes and buying the tickets. We raised  £156 for the Alzheimer Society."
