"This years Open Day was on Saturday May 24th. This is our annual event when we open the club up to the general public who are interested in trying out bowls and maybe joining our club.
As part of Bowls England’s “Big Bowls Weekend” we get help hosting the event, for which we are very grateful. The weather was not promising, but with the help of a good number of our members, we had a very successful day.
Explaining bowls come in different sizes and
weight and don't travel in a straight line!

It's helpful to take a small step forward when delivering your bowl.

A demonstration of the step and follow through.

Time for two of our guests to have a go.

Fantastic. How do I join? 😀

There was lots of willing help.

Resulting in the delivery of a very good wood under
the watchful eye of a coach.

More members of the public arrive to try their hand...

And quickly get into the swing of things.

Matching a club member wood for wood.

We took details from over a dozen possible new members who have been invited to join our coaching sessions on Tuesday mornings, and Sunday mornings for those of working age. So, look out for a number of new members who will hopefully be joining the club and joining in on Club afternoon and other club events by the end of June.
Thanks to all the members who made the day run so smoothly and generously gave up their time to help us recruit new members, who in future years may become firm friends and valuable members of our club."
