The Grieves Medal took place on Saturday 19th August with 26 members competing. The weather was sunny and warm but a little windy.
This 2 wood knockout competition took place over several short 7 end games on various rinks, with just one trial end on the first rink played. This format is unusual in so much as it does not give the competitors much time to familiarise themselves with the rink they are playing on. This resulted in several experienced players being knocked out in the first round!

The semi-final was played with Richard O’Halloran taking on Norman Jackson and David Lamb playing Christine Pickard. Both were close matches with Norman and Christine progressing to the final.
Examining the score cards
The 10 end final was played and after 6 ends scores were level but Christine pulled ahead to claim victory at 9 ends winning 8 shots to 5.
Trophies were presented to both the winner and runner up by our President Judith Chappel.
Our thanks go to John Drake for organising and
managing this very enjoyable competition.
