Inter-county competitions return to Harrogate after 11 years.

Harrogate Bowling Club last hosted a ladies inter-county competition in 2012. Therefore, we were delighted to be given the opportunity last Friday to host it once again when Yorkshire played Cumbria.

Our congratulations go to our Ladies Captain, Margaret Bailey, who was selected to play for Yorkshire.

This commentary was kindly provided by Margaret.

On the afternoon of Friday 28 July our club was proud to host an Inter-County Competition match between Yorkshire Ladies and Cumbria Ladies.

Our President welcomes everyone to Harrogate and officially hands over our green.

Fortunately, the weather stayed dry, the green team had spent time preparing a lovely green which drew favourable comments from many of the players. Plenty of spectators watched some first-class bowling from 48 bowlers using all six rinks.

The match gets underway.

On the jack.

A match isn't a match without its supporters.

A tense moment ...

Precision measuring.

The only disappointment was that Yorkshire narrowly lost.

Thank you for an excellent match.

Our in-house team provided tea and biscuits to both players and invited dignitaries. We sincerely hope we will receive invitations to host such prestigious matches in the future.
