Finals Weekend 2026 – The Results

"Our finals weekend consisted of twelve games featuring a good number of our members, playing hard fought games for the various trophies.

The whole event was organised by Mark Peatman and the team captains, and the two days went very smoothly. They included a cake stall with all proceeds going to our President's charity - which raised an excellent £173 for Saint Michael's Hospice. The bar was open all weekend and each day finished with a taste of Janet Preston's Sloe Gin, which went down very well.

The bowling was of a very good standard with some stand out games including the Gordons challenge which went all the way to a 21-20 finish in the morning, and the Gilly Pairs with an exciting finish with the eventual winners needing 5 shots on the last end to draw but actually getting 6 shots to take the title.

Sunday saw some equally exciting games, in particular the Horobin mixed pairs was a very closely fought affair in the morning and in the afternoon saw a very close Presidents game.

There were plenty of spectators to bring a great atmosphere to the weekend which was gratefully appreciated by the competitors who all seemed to raise their game on the day.

Special thanks to the volunteers who gave up their weekend to help the games run so smoothly, whether it was selling cakes, setting up the rinks, marking matches, manning the scoreboards, manning the bar, volunteering as umpires for the day, or generally being helpful.

Well done to everyone who took part, either as a player, a helper, or as a spectator."
